City of Bonnieville, Kentucky

Welcome to Bonnieville KY

Bonnieville is a rural city in Hart County Kentucky rich in history and community spirit. We are the first Hart County exit, located in South Central Kentucky, exit 71 from Southbound I-65. Bonnieville was established as Bacon Creek Station in 1849. Bacon Creek Station changed its name to Bonnieville, Ky on March 18, 1880, originally was incorporated May 5, 1880. On December 12th, 1955 the City of Bonnieville was officially incorporated as a sixth class city. We continue to hold precious our heritage and our history. We have a small area that is designated as official Bonnieville city limits, but the Bonnieville community stretches across a much larger area. This year the city completed phase I of a friendly annexation, with businesses and households requesting to be included in City limits. According to 2010 census data there are 255 people living in the city, with an average household size of 2.52 people. Part of the original main line of the historic Louisville and Nashville Railroad {currently CSX} run through the city and 31w runs right through the main part of town. Our 164 year old community is continuing to grow with several current expansion and land preservation projects underway. We treasure the past while embracing the future.

More information on Bonnieville can be found on our LOCAL HISTORY PAGE.

The next few years will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Living History interpreters and reenactors, please contact a Bacon Creek Historical Society Member for additional information on participating and to request a 2014 participant registration form.

Memorial Day weekend the annual Memorial Day Veterans Ceremony is held at Bonnieville Memory Park Cemetery. Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. In December, on the second Saturday, the annual "Wreaths Across America" ceremony is held. Local citizens purchase wreaths to place on veterans graves. A Remembrance ceremony is held in unison across the world to remember and honor our loved ones who have served. The mission of Wreaths across america is to 'Remember, Honor, and Teach'...
